Florida Bigfoot

The practice of leaving gifts for Bigfoots is both fascinating and debated within the Bigfoot community. Researchers often use gifting as a way to encourage interaction, hoping it may lead to some form of response or even physical evidence in return.

While some researchers have had success in exchanging gifts with Bigfoot, others caution against the practice. They warn it could encourage dependency and lead to unwanted or even aggressive behavior, such as a Bigfoot repeatedly visiting your house in search of food and potentially causing damage. This concern, they note, also applies to all wildlife in general.

While there may be some truth to this, this isn’t always the case. Many researchers have had good experiences and interactions through gifting. But that doesn’t mean every Bigfoot will behave in the same friendly manner. In general, you should always be cautious when dealing with wildlife!

Our research team has personally had some successful and fascinating gifting moments over the years, one of which involved leaving 5 mini peanut butter cups at night on a bench in an open field surrounded by trees. Upon returning to the bench the following morning, we found that they were all taken and a big mushroom with a bite taken out of it was left in their place.

Most researchers believe that gift exchanges represent a form of communication between humans and Bigfoot. The gifts could be seen as a way for Bigfoot to acknowledge a human’s presence or for expressing goodwill.

If you do want to include a little bit of food as part of your gifting, try to use locally grown produce or organic products and keep your portions small. Do not gift in a way that could encourage food dependency!

Be aware that other wildlife will eat the food you leave out and not necessarily eaten by a Bigfoot. That is why you should always include leaving non-food gift items as well. Bigfoots are reported to be curious creatures, so you will want to pique their curiosity with the gifts you leave out so they will take or interact with them.

If you do not like the idea of leaving food gifts, there are other types of simple gifts you can leave:

Gifting Ideas
  • Flashy, sparkly crystals

  • Unique shaped stones

  • Blue marbles

  • Balls (neon golf balls or colorful balls)

  • Painted rocks

  • Shells

  • Unique feathers

  • Small figurines or statues

  • Toys

  • Stuffed animals

  • Small mirror

  • Glow in the dark objects

  • Natural tobacco (organic if possible)

  • Small puzzles or simple games

  • Flowers

  • Handmade items made from natural materials

How to Gift Tips
  • Pick a location in the woods or swamp that you feel a Bigfoot travels through and put your gifts in the nook of a tree, or on a tree stump. Your gifting spot should always be away from your house and public trails.

  • Always use the same gifting area and you can have more than one, if desired.

  • Pin your gifting location on GPS so that you can find it again when you are ready to go check on it.

  • Always take photos of your gifting area before you leave so that you can determine if any of your gifts have been moved, taken, or something new was left.

  • Always include non-food items when you gift with food to provoke more interaction.

  • If you want to leave a food gift, keep the portion small.

  • Randomly check your gifting area because you do not want to establish a regular routine for leaving new gifts and create dependency.

  • Take photos of the gift area the moment you arrive, so you can compare them to the ‘before’ photos to look for differences and for documentation purposes.

  • Check the gifting spot in detail and the surrounding area to look for any gifts that may have been left a few feet away.

  • Use a journal to keep track of every trip to your gifting area. Note the changes that occurred and what gifts you left on each trip. By doing this, it will help you to keep track of which items or foods are being taken the most and which ones are being left untouched.

Whether you decide to gift or not, the practice can be an exciting and fascinating part of Bigfoot research, ultimately coming down to personal preference.
